The school is named for Dr. Chris Hines, who retired as Deputy Superintendent this year, after a 20-year career in Conroe ISD, which included serving as principal at Oak Ridge High School, Assistant Superintendent for Secondary Education and Associate Superintendent of Schools. Hines spent 40 years in education, taking his first teaching job after graduating from Texas State University in 1983. He also earned a Master’s degree from the University of Houston and his doctorate from Sam Houston State University.

Erin Mathe is the inaugural principal at Hines Elementary, which is a K-4 campus located in the Woodson’s Reserve neighborhood. The “Home of the Huskies” has a current enrollment of just over 800 students with a capacity for 950 students.
