Meet Amy Lampman, 2016 candidate running for the The Woodlands Township Board of Directors Position #1.

amy lampman

Hello Woodlands gave the opportunity to all candidates running for The Woodlands Township Board of Directors to interview with our team . We want to thank the candidates for their time and allowing Hello Woodlands to share their answers with YOU and the community.

Share your background. What originally brought you to The Woodlands?

“In 2000, my husband John and I relocated to north Houston for his work clinical research and I began teaching in Spring ISD as Elementary teacher. After 10 years of teaching, I became an Instructional Specialist and taught teachers throughout the district for 5 years. I had the opportunity to write curriculum and was a voice for the district.

Our dream was to live in the Woodlands, but it was not possible at the time with high HOA fees. So, we lived close by and still close to The Woodlands community in Spring – Northgate Crossing and Benders Landing.

We wanted to raise our children, Jake and Lauren, in this community and our dream came true in 2014. After the township was formed, special legislation eliminated high fees and allowed to invest in personal home and future in The Woodlands.

At that time, I launched my real estate career and started my business here in The Woodlands. My mission through my business is to make a difference in the community by partnering with local businesses, cross marketing events, and raising money for various charities at every event – and have helped to raise over $1,000,000 for local children’s non-profits.”

How do you contribute, give back and/or make a difference in our community?

“I have always had a passion for fund-raising and strive to give back to my community as much as possible. I am passionate about helping children, women, veterans, and the people of Montgomery County. I do not limit myself to just one area in giving back – I want to help our entire community.

In 2008, I was introduced to CASA of Montgomery County. As part of gala committee for the past 5 years and Blue Ribbon Society member since 2015, I started as the silent auction chairperson for the annual CASA Gala and now also host the Couture for CASA event every spring in The Woodlands.

In 2016, I was presented Community Impact Award for Brokerage.

I actively support American Heart Association as a Go Red Member, National Charity League of The Woodlands as a Grade Level Advisor, Boy Scouts of America, Angel Reach, Safe Harbor, The Will Herndon Research Fund, Montgomery County Youth Services, Montgomery County Food Bank, iGoPink, , Operation Pets Alive, and Mothers of Marines.

I am a member of The Woodlands Rotary Foundation and currently co-chair the Rotary Wine Dinner that has a goal of raising $100,000 for local scholarships and the Rotary Foundation.”

Why do you enjoy living and/or working in The Woodlands?

“My motto is ‘Work Hard, Play Harder.’ I live, work and play here. By living in Grogan’s Mill, I can walk to the mall, concerts, and enjoy all of the diverse events that are brought here all over the world.”

How has The Woodlands helped or affected your business?

“We are close-knit community – and in real estate it relies on referrals. It’s a small town and people talk. People see how much I care, invest in the community, and pay that forward. The events, the socials, and networking not only allows members of the community to give back, but also brings people together.”

amy lampmanWhat fuels your fire to run for The Woodlands Township Board of Directors?

“I pledge to be a voice for the people – all of the people: families, small business owners, seniors. The quality of life that George Mitchell shared.

As National Speaker since 2007, I know that I have a voice and I am all about speaking up for a good cause. I don’t know how to do something half-way. When I’m in it, I’m in it 110%.

It’s also for my family. My husband and I were college sweethearts, have been married for 21 years, and have a 15 year old son Jake and Lauren is 12. Both attend public schools in The Woodlands – College Park High School and Knox Junior High School. Jake is a football player and even has his own business dog sitting, house sitting, power washing. Lauren is actively involved in Cross Country and National Charity League of The Woodlands.”

Tell us about your business (and/or organization, group, event, product, etc).

“Why real estate? To put a different spin on buying a home and to educate people on how to invest in your future.

In 2015 and 2016, I was awarded the Circle of Excellence for sales and units, named Realtor of the Month, and started 3rd quarter of 2014 as a multimillion dollar producer.

I’m not focused on the sale, I’m focused on the people. I’ve always been about clients first and doing what’s best for the community. The more I make, the more I am able to give back.”

What are 5 things that you want voters to know about you (personal, points, views, experience, etc)?

“I pledge to be a servant leader in the following ways:

  1. Committed to long-term strategy to keep taxes low while researching incorporation

  2. Focus on preserving the quality of life as intended by George Mitchell

  3. Be a voice for small business owners

  4. Improve public safety

  5. Strategically devise plan for better mobility”

What makes you unique to other candidates and your competitors?

“What makes me unique is my dedication to community service. Through endless hours I’ve helped raise $1 million for abused and neglected children in Montgomery county. My current philanthropic project is to raise $100,000 for local scholarships by March 2017. I truly have the best interest of our community in my heart. I’m not a politician, I’m a mom on a mission.

Protecting quality of life through a responsible path to incorporation and service projects that focus on our future of our community are a few of my personal goals.”

Where do you see yourself (personally and/or your business) in the near future?

“I look forward to continuing to make a difference in this community.

I know I can make a difference. I am a firm believer in the greater good – it’s not about me, it’s doing what’s best for the community.”

Would you like to share any other words or messages to The Woodlands community?

Read special legislation which allows us to have the most efficient local government in Texas by avoiding incorporation and keeping taxes low.Get involved in the future of your community. And don’t forgot to vote at the bottom of the ballet!”
