Black Walnut The Woodlands reveals new look in time for Pumpkin Season and ahead of 25th Anniversary
After a summer refresh, Black Walnut Kitchen & Bar has reopened The Woodlands location after a month-long renovation. The local favorite is now showcasing it’s new look with the same welcoming hospitality, made-from-scratch dishes, and familiar faces.
The Woodlands Renovation
Black Walnut first opened in 2002 on Research Forest Drive in The Woodlands. Then in 2014, Black Walnut moved across the street to its current 11,247 sq.ft. location at 9000 New Trails Drive that can seat up to 347 guests. The Woodlands location is now one of six Black Walnut restaurants across the Greater Houston area, including Conroe, Vintage Park, Rice Village, Memorial Drive and Cinco Ranch. Black Walnut restaurants and The Kitchen (in The Woodlands) are part of the Woodlands Hospitality Group, led by Eric Lysaker as President.
As Black Walnut looks ahead to their 25th anniversary in April 2027, the Woodlands Hospitality Group decided it was time for a refresh on multiple Black Walnut locations, including The Woodlands. As you walk through the front doors, you will be greeted by their friendly staff and locals will instantly notice the elevated spaces, especially the bright white bar directly ahead. The structure and amount of seating of the restaurant has not changed, but the tables have been upgraded, new lighting and stylish fixtures have been installed, windows now welcome natural light to the back dining room, the ceilings have been painted white or transformed with beautiful wooden beams, and numerous other enhancements have been added throughout the restaurant.
Businesses and families who host celebrations, meetings, and events will notice the stunning upgrades in the three special rooms: The Leah (for up to 30 guests; named after owner’s daughter), The Kennedy (for up to 60 guests; named after a loyal guest), and The Estella (for up to 30 guests; named after their longest tenure partner). The beautiful outdoor patio also welcomes up to 80 guests.
The Woodlands renovation took place late June through July, performed by Architectural Firm ARCHITANGENT alongside General Contractor Moon Commercial Construction, just in time to reopen on July 31 for Houston Restaurant Weeks.
Even though the restaurant has a fresh new elevated look and a light and bright space, they haven’t abandoned their iconic wooden touches nor, and most importantly, the warm hospitality and great customer service that starts when you walk through the door. Black Walnut strives to be a gathering place for generations that offers an inviting environment and a welcoming culture as a neighborhood hub.
New Fall Menu Items
And with a new renovation, why not continue the celebration by adding new items to the fall menu?
We’re falling for pumpkin! As of September 15, Black Walnut rolled out several new pumpkin dishes, including the Pumpkin Spice Latte, Pumpkin Pancakes, Pumpkin Cheesecake, Pumpkin Snickerdoodle Cookie, and the chef’s favorite – the Pumpkin Muffin with Pumpkin Buttercream.
Houston Restaurant Weeks menu fans will also rejoice when they see some of the limited recipes now introduced at Black Walnut The Woodlands. New menus items, such as the Shrimp Scampi Appetizer, Blackened Redfish, Spaghetti Squash, and Coffee Rub Ribeye (with certified Angus beef), will make their debut on October 13.
At Black Walnut, breakfast is served all day and lunch and dinner is served seven days a week. The Woodlands location is open Sunday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Friday and Saturday, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Happy Hour takes place Monday through Friday, with Early Bird Morning Happy Hour at 7-9:30 a.m. and Afternoon Happy Hour 3-6:30 p.m. Black Walnut also offers half off all bottles of wines every Thursday, $12 Lunch and $20 Two-Course Dinner specials, plus live music on Wednesday nights from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
