Canopy Cancer Survivorship Center announces 5 new Advisory Council Members
As Canopy Cancer Survivorship Center celebrates 10 years of serving individuals and families impacted by cancer, the organization is proud to recognize five outstanding leaders who have recently joined its Advisory Council:
- Dr. Andrew Jackson, Texas Oncology
- Kristy A. Walker, ExxonMobil
- Leslie Blix, The Only Facial and Sam Houston State University
- Missy Herndon, Interfaith of The Woodlands and Interfaith Community Clinic
- Nick Colvin, i.e. Smart Systems
Canopy Advisory Council is comprised of respected leaders from healthcare, business, philanthropy, and the community who provide strategic guidance, advocacy, and support to advance Canopy’s mission: to provide the finest support, education, resources, and integrative services to all those impacted by cancer, regardless of where patients receive treatment.
“As we celebrate Canopy’s 10-year anniversary, we’re honored to welcome leaders whose passion for service and commitment to our community align so closely with our mission,” said Linda Nelson, Director of Business Development and Marketing at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center and Canopy Cancer Survivorship Center. “Their expertise and leadership will help us continue expanding access to life-changing survivorship services and ensure that everyone impacted by cancer has the support they need to thrive.”
As the demand for cancer survivorship services continues to grow in our community, we are honored to expand our Canopy Advisory council newest members who each bring a wealth of experience and diverse perspectives that will strengthen Canopy’s efforts to serve cancer survivors and their loved ones throughout our community.
Dr. Andrew Jackson, Texas Oncology
Dr. Andrew Jackson is a board-certified hematologist and medical oncologist specializing in hematology and medical oncology with advanced training that includes a fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine and residency and medical school at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. His clinical and research interests focus on immunotherapy and T-cell therapy, helping harness the immune system to fight cancer. Before entering medicine, Dr. Jackson spent 10 years in the chemical engineering industry. His expertise in patient care, research, and innovation brings invaluable clinical insight to the Canopy Advisory Council.
Kristy A. Walker, ExxonMobil
Kristy A. Walker serves as Corporate Financial Reporting Manager for ExxonMobil, where she provides financial analysis to the company’s Management Committee and oversees external SEC reporting. Throughout more than 20 years with ExxonMobil, she has held leadership positions across finance, treasury, and global operations, including assignments supporting international business and strategic assets. In addition to her professional accomplishments, Walker is dedicated to serving the community through her role on the Canopy Advisory Council and the National Charity League.
Missy Herndon, Interfaith of The Woodlands and Interfaith Community Clinic
Missy Herndon serves as President and CEO of Interfaith of The Woodlands and Interfaith Community Clinic, leading organizations that provide nearly 100,000 service contacts annually to families and seniors throughout the region. She is also co-founder of HOPE: The Will Herndon Research Fund, established after her son’s diagnosis with Juvenile Batten Disease. Through her steadfast advocacy, the foundation helped advance a groundbreaking treatment into FDA-approved clinical trials, bringing hope to families affected by rare diseases. Her leadership and commitment to serving others have made a lasting impact across Montgomery County.
Nick Colvin, i.e. Smart Systems
Nick Colvin is President of i.e. Smart Systems, where he has led the company’s continued growth through a leadership philosophy centered on trust, innovation, employee development, and exceptional customer service. Since assuming leadership in 2017, he has focused on investing in employees, cultivating a strong organizational culture, and delivering lasting value to clients. His dedication to servant leadership and community engagement reflects the values that drive Canopy’s mission.
Leslie Blix, The Only Facial and Sam Houston State University
Leslie Blix is a tenured Associate Professor of Accounting at Sam Houston State University, where she has taught undergraduate and graduate auditing since 2017. Prior to entering academia, she spent seven years in the audit practice at KPMG LLP in Tampa, Florida. She holds a Ph.D. in Accounting from Southern Illinois University and has authored 12 published accounting research articles. In 2026, Leslie and her husband opened The Only Facial in The Woodlands with a simple mission: to make beautiful skin simple while creating a welcoming place where people feel cared for. Cancer has touched Leslie’s life in profound ways. Her mother is a melanoma survivor, her father passed away after a courageous battle with prostate cancer, and her aunt is currently fighting melanoma. Those experiences made partnering with Canopy especially meaningful.
Together, these leaders will help guide Canopy as it continues expanding innovative survivorship programming, strengthening community partnerships, and ensuring comprehensive support remains available to every person impacted by cancer.
Since opening its doors in 2016, Canopy Cancer Survivorship Center has become a trusted resource for cancer survivors, caregivers, and families throughout the region. Today, Canopy offers more than 45 programs and services, including counseling, nutrition, exercise, support groups, integrative therapies, and survivorship education, free of charge to anyone impacted by cancer, regardless of where they receive treatment.
As Canopy enters its second decade of service, the organization remains committed to helping individuals not only survive cancer, but live well beyond it.
