Canopy Cancer Survivorship Center hosts first annual Breast Cancer Panel

On Wednesday, October 19, 2022, Canopy Cancer Survivorship Center hosted their 1st Annual Let’s Talk Breast Cancer Panel Discussion and Lunch from noon to 2 p.m. Canopy is a cancer survivorship on the campus of Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center located at 1120 Medical Plaza Dr, Medical Building 1, Suite 250.

Attendees at the event enjoyed educational presentations, a panel discussion, learned about the importance of Mammograms, and had the opportunity to ask questions to five guest speakers including:

  • Featured Panelist, Breast Surgical Oncologist Dr. Diana M. Hook, M.D.
  • Carolyn Allsen, RN, BSN, OCN, ONN-CG, Oncology Nurse Navigator
  • Katharine Mahan, LCSW, OSW-C, Oncology Social Worker
  • Stephanie Castleschouldt, Moxie Hair & Wigs, Owner and Stylist
  • Sharon Denney, FNP, Interfaith Community Clinic, Family Nurse Practitioner

Marcella Herrera, Program Manager of Canopy, also shared how Canopy offers a wide variety of programs and services addressing the emotional, physical and social needs of those touched by cancer – at no cost. Canopy is open to men and women, no matter where you were treated, and for any kind of cancer.

The goal of Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center is to integrate a cancer survivorship center into the continuum of cancer care.
