Celebrate Genealogy and Preservation Center Day in Montgomery County on August 19
The Genealogy and Preservation Center is turning 50! For five decades, this space has been filled with research, laughter, and community, and now it is time to celebrate.
Join the Genealogy and Preservation Center on Wednesday, August 19, from 1:00pm to 3:00pm to celebrate 50 years of preserving Montgomery County’s rich history. Stop by to tour the Center, meet the team, and see how you can uncover and preserve your own family history. Come enjoy cake, coffee, and a walk through the Center’s history while honoring the past and looking forward to the future.
Recognizing these five decades of dedicated public service, Montgomery County Judge Mark Keough and the County Commissioners issued an official proclamation declaring August 19, 2026, as “Genealogy & Preservation Center Day.” The proclamation encourages community members to visit the Center, explore its specialized services, and honor the Center’s ongoing role in preserving local history.

The Genealogy and Preservation Center is located on the 2nd floor of the Central Library in Conroe, 104 I-45 N.
