Child Advocates celebrates Community Heroes at Champions for Children Awards Breakfast

Child Advocates of Montgomery County hosted its inaugural Champions for Children Awards Breakfast on May 8, 2024, at Truluck’s Ocean’s Finest Seafood and Crab in The Woodlands. The event, attended by over 120 people, served as a fundraiser for the organization and a celebration of community heroes.

The morning began with a warm welcome from Development Director Lindsay Miller, followed by President and CEO Ann Marie Ronsman’s heartfelt remarks. Ronsman presented awards to the following outstanding honorees, recognizing their significant contributions to ensuring a brighter future for Montgomery County’s youngest citizens:

  1. Judge Wayne L. Mack | Justice of the Peace, Pct. 1, Montgomery County
  2. Judge Amy Tucker | County Court at Law #3, Montgomery County
  3. Judge Scharlene Valdez | County Court at Law #6, Montgomery County
  4. Special Victims Division | Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office (District Attorney Brett
    Ligon, Special Victims Division Chief Shanna Redwine, and Internet Crimes Against Children Chief

In her address, Ronsman praised the honorees: “Each of you works diligently day in and day out to create a safer, more nurturing environment for our children. You are the unsung heroes who ensure that their
voices are heard, their rights protected, and their dreams nurtured.”

The event also featured a Kendra Scott pop-up shop, with a portion of sales benefiting Child Advocates of Montgomery County. Attendees left inspired and united in their commitment to championing the wellbeing of local children.
