This March, City Place invites north Houston to step into spring with a dynamic lineup of art, entertainment, and seasonal celebrations set along its vibrant urban core.

Anchoring the season is the debut of Arc ZERO, a striking new public art installation by acclaimed Australian artist James Tapscott. Featuring two ethereal, interactive rings of light and mist—Eclipse and Nimbus—the installation continues City Place’s commitment to world-class public art and transforms the waterfront into an immersive experience.

Spring break festivities begin with Picnic in the Park on Saturday, March 14. This complimentary afternoon brings live jazz and R&B, lawn games, and family-friendly activations including face painting, bubbly fun from the Texas Bubblers, and a DIY mini flower bouquet station.

That same weekend, Pop Culture Con takes over the Houston City Place Marriott on Saturday, March 14, and Sunday, March 15. Don’t be surprised to see Captain America or Bilbo Baggins grabbing cocktails alongside Wonder Woman at SwitcHouse.

Rounding out the month, the beloved outdoor movie series Pix on The Plaza returns Saturday, March 21, with the 1985 classic Back to the Future. It’s the only film that proves a stainless-steel sports car—and a little stolen plutonium—are all you need to accidentally invent rock and roll. Bonus points if you arrive in a DeLorean.

All programming takes place on and around 1250 Lake Plaza Drive and is complimentary unless otherwise noted. For updates and details, visit cityplacenow.com or follow along on Instagram @CityPlaceNow.

Arc ZERO: Eclipse and Arc ZERO: Nimbus

Saturday, March 14 – August 2

City Place continues its commitment to world-class public art with the debut of Arc ZERO, from acclaimed Australian artist James Tapscott. The installation features two ethereal, interactive rings of light and mist—Eclipse and Nimbus—positioned on and along the waterfront. While Arc ZERO: Eclipse utilizes a semi-circular steel arc and fine mist to create a glowing, floating halo reflected in the “Cat’s Eye Pond,” Arc ZERO: Nimbus rises 15 feet above a jetty, inviting visitors to physically walk through a portal of cooling vapor and shifting light. Curated by the Weingarten Art Group, these immersive works transform the elements of water and air into a luminous dialogue between nature and engineering.
