Cold weather is on its way to Montgomery County

By  |

On Wednesday, January 10, the Montgomery County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management shared that a cold front is expected to arrive Thursday evening or early Friday, with a second stronger cold front on Sunday.

“Another cold front arriving late Thursday early Friday will bring with it slight chances of severe weather, especially north of Hwy 105. Then a second much stronger cold front arrives Sunday. Plunging temperatures to 20-30 degrees below normal. Monday morning through Wednesday could see temperatures below freezing. Now is the time to winterize any outdoor plumbing, prepare the plants and make arrangements to give warm shelter to any outdoor animals and pets.

“We’re not expecting winter precipitation with either of these cold fronts at this time. Wind chill advisories and hard freeze warnings may be issued in the coming days. Should any warnings be issued they will be relayed here.”

Also a reminder to not forget to protect the four P’s: People, Pets, Plants and Pipes. We’re expecting the coldest weather of the season yet next week.

Stay tuned for more details on the expected cold freeze as additional guidance/forecasts come out from the National Weather Service.
