Cooper Athletics Heat up Spring Season

THE WOODLANDS, TX – Athletes at The John Cooper School recently competed with both public and private schools in track & field, tennis, baseball, softball, and golf.

Amara Oguchi, junior at The John Cooper School, took first place in discus and shot put against The Woodlands High School.

BOYS’/GIRLS’ VARSITY TRACK & FIELD

  • Feb. 22 – Concordia Lutheran
    • Coach Scott Holland: Friday was a dual meet with Concordia and we took part of our team to The Woodlands Invitational. We’ll have a better idea of where we’re at when we compete at Episcopal High School for the Dick Phillips Relays because we’ll have the full team together.
  • Feb. 23 – The Woodlands High School Invitational
    • Junior Amara Oguchi continues her winning streak in Track & Field events, taking first place in the discus and in the shot put against The Woodlands High School. Oguchi’s throws are in the Top 20 in the state in both events, in both public and private schools. Her 20 points led the girls to the team title at the meet.

  • Feb. 27 at Lutheran South meet (dual), 4:00 p.m.
  • Feb. 29 at Dick Phillips Relays, Episcopal High School

    • Savan Khurana – 1st line 2 singles
    • John Haile, Nicolas Goosens- 1st line 2 doubles
    • Jared Ramirez, Parker Gregory- 2nd line 1 doubles line 1
    • Marielle Sauber- consolation winner line 1 singles

BOYS’ VARSITY BASEBALL

  • Feb. 17 at Woodlands Christian
    • 5-4 WIN
    • Coach Mike Williams: Antonio Pastrana 3 shutout innings and Jacob Rebrook picked up the save. Rebrook was 1-3 with 1 DB 1 run scored. Tyler Douglas 1-2 with a run scored and two BB. Anthony Giannette 1-3 two RBIs.
  • Feb. 22-22 hosted SPC vs TAPPS Challenge
    • Game 1: vs. Midland Christian • 3-1 LOSS
    • Game 2: vs. Cypress Christian • 5-3 LOSS
    • Game 3: vs. St. Thomas • 7-0 LOSS
