Dragon Athletes Compete At Invitationals

THE WOODLANDS, TX – The John Cooper School’s Dragon athletes finish strong at Invitational competitions.

VARSITY TRACK & FIELD

  • 2/25 at The Dick Phillips Invitational at Episcopal High School

Boys 7th • Girls 6th

“This weekend the Cooper Track & Field teams took their talents to Houston, competing in the Episcopal Dick Phillips Invitational,” said Coach Matt Bohan. “The boys team finished in 7th place scoring an impressive 96 points amongst 25 teams. The Cooper girls also competed well finishing in 6th place with 62 points.”

“We had an impressive day across the board,” said distance coach George Dohner. “Our team atmosphere is thriving, and the kids are performing at a high level that is fun to watch.” The Cooper athletes recorded 28 personal records (PR) along with 15 season records (SR). Sprints coach Paul Herman said, “I am really proud of the kids and the work they have put in thus far. We have a good balance of experienced and young runners who are both working hard and improving each day.”

Congrats go out to sophomore pole vaulter, Milla Signorelli who tied the school record at 10’6”. Nico Signorelli beat his own school record in an earlier meet this week with a vaulting height of 15’.

“We had a great weekend at the Fort Bend Christian Academy Invitational,” said Coach Nicole Hedden. “Our base-running was on fire! Madison Roger had a three-run home run against Fort Bend Christian Academy. Grace Minarovic had a two-run home run against Incarnate Word Academy. Our bats were hot this weekend. We made some great plays defensively but need to work on trusting each other and communicating on defense. These young ladies are getting better each game. Our last game was a tough loss, but we now know what to work on to improve.”

“I am looking forward to a big week ahead–we have a game vs. St. John XXIII on Monday and getting back to work on Tuesday and Wednesday at practice before our next Round Robin that St. Johns is hosting on Thursday and Friday.”
