  • August 8 vs. The Village School • 3-0 W

“The Dragons started off the week strong with a commanding 3-0 home sweep of The Village School!” said Coach Courtney Hunnicutt (formerly Eckenrode). “Many of our Dragons stood out with phenomenal defense from Finley Wheeler and Ava Cockrill, strong attacking from Julianne Hon and Isabella Melin, and a steady offense run by Ana Del Angel Aguilar.”

“The Dragons lost a tough battle to a talented and consistent Fort Bend Christian Academy Eagles team,” said Coach Hunnicutt. “In an effort to tie the match 1-1, the Dragons and the Eagles fought to the finish in extra points and the Dragons came up just short in a 29-31 second set.”

VARSITY FOOTBALL

“When you strike at a king, you must kill him.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

It is going to be a year of strikes at the Dragons as they look to further their two-year championship reign over the SPC 3A division. The John Cooper School football team has had its fair share of triumphs over the last few seasons.

The Dragons graduated their largest senior class ever filled with game breakers and game generals. This year the Dragons will put their youngest team ever on the field looking to reveal those new game-changers and future Dragon stars. Junior RB Dean Calhoun will be a force as he looks to continue to shine after a standout sophomore season last year breaking onto the SPC scene with his dynamic playmaking abilities. The Dragon defense will be anchored by seniors Jackson Todd and Cole Sheppard, who already have college offers to continue their football careers.

“The Dragon football program anchors itself in its philosophy of F.A.M.I.L.Y. (Forget About Me I Love You) and that love equals sacrifice, and it will no doubt be a year that tests those Dragon values,” said Coach Daniel Lewis.
