Junior League Collecting Prom Gowns for Local Teens

By  |
THE WOODLANDS, TX – Prom season is around the corner; however, because of accompanying costs, not every young woman can afford to go. Junior League of The Woodlands, Inc. and The Giving Gown Foundation again have partnered with the goal of collecting 1,700 gowns and formal wear for junior and senior high school girls attending prom.

Junior League of The Woodlands project chairs Katie Ray, Francis Norat, Marianne Horton, and Kara Hall.

Donation sites will be set up around greater Houston now through March 15 to collect new and like-new formal gowns, shoes, accessories and toiletries such as soap, lotion, shampoo, makeup products, hair products, nail products and feminine hygiene products.

Giving Gown Boutique days will be March 27-30, during which volunteers from the Junior League of The Woodlands provisional class will serve as fairy godmothers by outfitting girls with dresses and accessories. Each girl also will enjoy an empowerment workshop where they focus on self-esteem and will leave with a swag bag full of toiletries to help her look and feel her best.
This powerful event is made possible by generous individual and corporate donors such as Tiff’s Treats Cookie Delivery, who support the provisional class project and other Junior League of The Woodlands, Inc. events throughout the year.
