THE WOODLANDS TOWNSHIP BOARD OF DIRECTORS – 2022 CANDIDATE

Kyle Watson is running for the Township Board Position 4.

Kyle Watson

1. Share your background. What originally brought you to The Woodlands?

I was born and raised in Conroe. I have lived in Montgomery County almost all of my life with the exception of being at Baylor for undergrad, South Texas in Houston for law school, and a brief period in between where I lived in Clear Lake while working for Lockheed Martin on a NASA contract. My wife and I were blessed to make our home here over 20 years ago when I graduated from law school.

2. Why do you enjoy living (and working, if applicable) in The Woodlands?

Because it is the best place to do so in America. We have a unique community that needs to be preserved to maintain the quality of life. We have outstanding retail and amenities, low taxes, limited government, and some of the best options for living, working, and playing all right here.

3. How have you served and/or how do you currently serve and contribute to our community?

I have grown up in Montgomery County and am intimately familiar with our community.  I have taken many active roles on charitable and community boards as well as at my church.  I also give back through my children and their involvements as well as my employers reach within our community.

4. What motivates you to run for The Woodlands Township Board of Directors?

As I get even more involved I have listened to residents and learned that while we voted against incorporation last year, our current board seems to still be planning for it. I also learned that there are numerous strained relationships with our county and community partners.  Preserving our great community by restoring relationships and listening to residents to ensure we remain the #1 place in America to live, work, and play is my goal and the driving force behind my campaign.

5. What are 5 things that you want voters to know about you (personal, points, views, experience, etc.

  1. I truly care about our community and its residents.
  2. I am a Christian, family man and proud father.
  3. I am a successful professional and business capitalist.
  4. I am pragmatic, reasonable and effectively solve problems for a living.
  5. I live, work, and play here and want my children to have the same quality we have now, for years ahead.

6. If elected, what would your top 3 priorities as a Township Board of Director? How would you work to impact/shape the future of The Woodlands?

We must remain fiscally conservative and maintain proper reserves to keep our credit rating high and prepare for unforeseeable events but should not over-tax the residents to bankroll unapproved plans or projects as has occurred previously.  The Township’s current model has led to The Woodlands being one of the most desirable places to live and work in the entire country. Our Township system is extremely unique and allows us to keep taxes low while also staying focused on important priorities like public safety. We need to focus on these areas as well as restoring and improving key relationships so we can have influence and impacts on decisions impacting our community.

7. Would you like to share any other words or message to The Woodlands community?

Thank you for interest and commitment to our wonderful community!  Vote Kyle Watson for Position 4!!!
