By  |

LIFE! Steampunk opened on Friday, May 11 and runs through Sunday, May 13 at the Glenn Performing Arts Center and showcases the talents of 6th through 12th grade dance students of The John Cooper School in The Woodlands.

STEAMPUNK is the theme for this year’s LIFE Dance Show that takes the audience from the 1920’s to modern day through jazz, modern, contemporary, ballet, lyrical, aerial dance and performance art.

Hello Woodlands talked with Elizabeth DeMonico about the LIFE! Steampunk performance in the interview below:

At The John Cooper School, students who are interested in dance instruction have a variety of options to choose from and will learn discipline, flexibility, technique, poise and grace through the study of dance. Middle School dance students are introduced to a variety of styles, from traditional dance to jazz to lyrical to hip hop and perform at halftimes of football games. In Upper School, dance is offered at beginner, intermediate and advanced levels, based on level of experience. Instruction in the unique art of aerial arts, also known as “silks,” is also offered at all three levels for Middle and Upper School students. Middle and Upper School dance students showcase their talents at the school-wide Fine Arts Festival Week held each April and in the end-of-year “Life!” production that is held each May.
