Lighting of the Doves festival opens the holiday season November 21
THE WOODLANDS, TX – The Woodlands Township will be celebrating the start of the holiday season at the annual Lighting of the Doves festival from on Saturday, November 21, 2020, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Town Green Park, located at 2099 Lake Robbins Drive, The Woodlands, 77380.
The Lighting of the Doves festival is a long-standing tradition in The Woodlands that heralds the beginning of the holiday season in the community. Symbolizing hope and peace for the holidays, the ceremonial illumination of the doves attracts thousands of residents and visitors each year.
This year’s event has been modified due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and will be limited to Santa’s arrival to Town Green Park, the dove lighting ceremony and fireworks. No activities, vendor booths, snow play areas or concessions/beverages will be available at this year’s event.
“The annual Lighting of the Doves festival is a treasured tradition in our community, and although we are still experiencing a changed environment due to the current health crisis, we will still celebrate the holiday season,” states Township Chairman Gordy Bunch. “There will be some changes to the event, but nothing will change the holiday spirit here in The Woodlands.”
Schedule of Events for the 2020 Lighting of the Doves*
- 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. – Stage Performances
- 7:15 p.m. – Santa’s Arrival
- 7:30 p.m. – Lighting of the Doves and Fireworks
- 7:55 p.m. – Closing Remarks
- 8:00 p.m. – Event Concludes
