Local Pastor uses Art to share The Gospel
Meet Justin Ulmer, lifelong resident of Montgomery County, pastor of Little Flock Church in Conroe, and founder of a unique ministry in pictures called Sevenapples. For the past 21 years Justin has been using his gifts both at home and abroad to share God’s Word with the world in the form of Sevenapples prayer cards. These powerful little creations couple Justin’s pictures with holy Scripture and they have slowly been making their way all around the planet.

Justin’s ministry in pictures began on a sleepless night in 2004 as he was wrestling with the reality that he’d just lost a decade of his life to alcoholism. From that place of hopelessness, he asked Jesus for help, and his life has never looked the same. As he confessed his brokenness, he heard Jesus say, “You’re not an alcoholic, you’re an artist.” And that was the moment Sevenapples was born.
In our recent interview with Justin, he shared, “Just like that night in my room, our God is the God of just the right word at the right time. And that’s the hope of every Sevenapples prayer card.” Justin went on to share that for over 20 years people have been enjoying Sevenapples in a variety of ways, and how each and every one of his prayer cards can serve not only as a personal word of encouragement, but as a Bible study, a devotional, or an evangelism tool. However, his favorite thing for people to do with his prayer cards is to give them away. Justin shared, “We consistently hear these cards are the most effective evangelism tool people have ever seen.” He noted that this is due in large part to 60% of the population being visual learners. “Receiving an encouraging piece of Scripture coupled with a beautiful picture is something that even unbelievers say they appreciate.”

Justin continued by sharing, “We’re particularly excited about our new website, CardoftheDay.com. To date, we’ve created over 1500 prayer cards, and CardOfTheDay.com is where they all live. Cards can be searched by verse or keyword.” The new site has an interactive map featuring pins and testimonies from thousands of users from all over the world, as well as a tool to find your own personal card of the day. “It’s really remarkable how people always seem to be led to the perfect card for whatever they need to hear that day.”
In addition, Justin’s cards are available to purchase as box sets. Each box contains 44 prayer cards alongside some custom bible study tools he has developed. The cards are packaged by themes like Cards for Healing, Cards for Kids, and Cards for Battle, to name a few. They even feature a Cards for Banditøs pack built around pictures of scripture relating to the lyrics of Twenty One Pilots songs.

Justin also pastors Little Flock Church, a community of house churches based in Conroe, Texas with a mission to be loved by God, to love God, and to make God’s love known. Join Justin, his family, and the congregation for their public worship services every 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month from 10-11am at Honor Café in Conroe, Texas. And stay tuned! This Christmas, you’ll see Justin on-screen acting as himself where his ministry in pictures will be featured in Season 2 of Breaking Strongholds. Produced by Reflective Media Productions, Breaking Strongholds is a gripping, faith-based streaming series that brings light to some of the darkest strongholds in our society while keeping viewers on the edge of their seats.
Tips for sharing a Sevenapples Prayer Card:
- ENCOURAGE: Offer someone seven cards and say, “Pick a card for your day.” Next, have them read their card out aloud and ask, “What is God saying to you?” You’ll be amazed how people pick just the right word for just the right time. Then, offer to pray for the card recipient.
- STUDY: With the Sevenapples Study Tool included in each box, every card is instantly transformed into a personal devotional or conversational bible study that can be facilitated anytime, anywhere, with anyone. Great for small groups, student ministries, house churches, and personal quiet times.
- INSPIRE: Share cards with friends, offer them to strangers, or place them in curious places around town. Are you tipping a server? Include a card! Getting gasoline? Leave one at the pump! Turn everyday encounters into divine appointments with Sevenapples.
