Local Restaurants Battle for Best Burger at Throwdown Texas Festival

By  |

The 2nd Annual Throwdown Texas Burger and Music Fest was held on Saturday, April 29, 2017 from 11 am to 7 pm at Town Green Park in The Woodlands with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Montgomery County Food Bank.

Dozens of local restaurants, eateries, and burger joints set up shop at Town Green Park and filled the air with the scintillating scents of burgers on the grill. Live music played throughout the festival on two stages by local bands and KSTAR, Woodlands Hits and Voice of The Woodlands were on site broadcasting the event on air. Attendees enjoyed burgers, food vendors, beer and beverages, a kid zone, face painting, family friendly activities, and shopped at a variety of vendors.

Guests even had the opportunity to sign up and compete in the Hot Line Pepper Products’ Scorching Scorpion Burning Burger challenge by the main stage. The first contestant to complete eating the fire-hot burger was named the winner of the challenge.

7 celebrity judges had the difficult but delicious job of selecting the “Best Burger in Town” from the 6 local competitors: 5 Ate Cafe, Hubbell & Hudson Bistro, Kirby’s Steakhouse, Nick’s Oyster & Dive Bar, Red Brick Tavern, and Uncle Tony’s. The judging included a blind tasting of each burger, not knowing who prepared the burger, and each burger was judged based on presentation, taste, and creativity.

And the winners are…

First Place: Red Brick Tavern
Second Place: 5 Ate Cafe
Third Place: Uncle Tony’s
