Lone Star College-Montgomery Celebrates 30 Years of Excellence with Kickoff Convocation
Lone Star College-Montgomery proudly kicked off its 30th anniversary year with an inspiring Convocation event, welcoming faculty, staff, and new Mavericks back to campus. The celebration also marked the beginning of a new semester dedicated to advancing the college’s mission of educational excellence and community engagement.
Opened in 1995, Lone Star College-Montgomery has been a cornerstone of higher education in the community for nearly three decades. The college’s founding was rooted in a commitment from Chancellor Dr. John Pickelman to provide accessible, high-quality education, a promise that continues to drive its mission today. In Fall 2024 alone, over 18,000 students enrolled, exemplifying the college’s ongoing dedication to student success.
This milestone event featured a special speech from Dana Pritchard, the college’s very first student enrolled over 30 years ago. Dana shared her inspiring journey, emphasizing how her education at Lone Star College-Montgomery laid the foundation for her achievements. She also expressed gratitude for the support from her teachers and mentors who helped guide her throughout her educational journey. To inspire others, she shared her lifelong motto: “Never give up!” This was a reminder to persevere no matter the challenges.
Lone Star College-Montgomery has remained committed to fostering academic excellence and community engagement. Since its inception, the college has opened its doors to inspire growth, achievement, and leadership, not just for Texas but for the world. As part of the “One LSC” vision, the college strives to be a place where individuals can start close to home and go far.
Throughout the year, the college will host a series of “30 for 30” service events, featuring faculty, staff, and students engaging with the community and giving back where it matters most.
