Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center Earns Top Score for Patient Safety

HOUSTON, TX – Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center earned an ‘A’ safety grade from The Leapfrog Group, a Washington D.C-based organization aiming to improve health care quality and safety for consumers and purchasers. The program recognizes Memorial Hermann’s strong commitment to patient safety by protecting patients from harm and meeting the highest safety standards in the U.S. 

“Patient safety is paramount at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands and being recognized for our commitment to safety and quality is a great acknowledgement of the hard work demonstrated every day by our physicians, nurses and employees across our system,” said Justin Kendrick, Senior vice president and CEO of Memorial Hermann The Woodlands. “With this being our 12th year in a row to achieve an A rating, placing us in the top 3% of the country, it is confirmation of our passionate pursuit towards continuing to earn the trust of our community and region by caring for all safely and compassionately each and every day.”

Six more of the health system’s acute care hospitals were included in an exclusive group of hospitals nationwide to receive an ‘A’ score based on their performance in preventing medical errors, infections and other harms among patients in their care. Those hospitals include:

  • Memorial Hermann Greater Heights Hospital
  • Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital
  • Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital
  • Memorial Hermann Sugar Land Hospital
  • Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center
  • Memorial Hermann Pearland Hospital

The Hospital Safety Score is the gold standard rating for patient safety, compiled under the guidance of the nation’s leading patient safety experts and administered by The Leapfrog Group, a national, independent nonprofit. The Hospital Safety Grade uses 27 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades to approximately 2,700 U.S. hospitals twice per year. It is peer reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public.
