On October 5, 2026, Deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office South Patrol Command responded to the 25100 block of Panther Bend Court after a caller reported a suspicious person near a vehicle. The caller stated he saw the individual remove something from underneath a vehicle, before leaving the scene. Responding deputies discovered the vehicle’s catalytic converter was missing.

Approximately one hour later, deputies handling an unrelated call observed a vehicle matching the suspect’s description traveling from the direction of the original incident. Deputies relayed the information to MCSO Dispatch and reported that the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed toward I-45. Deputies in the area were able to locate the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop.

The suspect, identified as Jon Eric Wallace, was detained.  Upon searching the trunk, Deputies located eight catalytic converters all from Toyota vehicles. Deputies also located a “Hackzall” tool and saw blades in the vehicle.

Wallace has a lengthy criminal history and is currently on parole.

Wallace was taken into custody for unauthorized possession of catalytic converters and held on a $25,000.00 bond.
