March 2024

March 2-3, 2024 – Father-Son Campout – Spend quality father-son time at this new addition to The Woodlands Township’s Campout Series! Enjoy a variety of outdoor recreation activities during the day and a fireside dinner in the evening. This overnight event will focus on getting back to the basics and enjoying nature. March 6, April 3, & May 1, 2024 – Gardening with Bob & Plant Swap – Bob, a Master Gardener, will be sharing his best tips and tricks to help you create a beautiful lawn at the South Regional Library. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced gardener, this event is perfect for anyone looking to enhance their green thumb skills. During the event, there will also be a plant swap where you can bring your extra plants and exchange them with other gardening enthusiasts. Time: 1:00pm. March 9, 2024 – Arts in the Park – Enjoy an afternoon outdoors with family and friends at Arts in the Park! This FREE event features local vendors selling original artwork, live stage entertainment, children’s activities, food trucks and more! March 9, 2024 – Volunteer Day at Rob Fleming Recreation Center: Let’s Tackle Trash – Join The Woodlands Township at the Recreation Center at Rob Fleming Park to collect litter and conduct an audit for the Keep Texas Beautiful Texas Litter Database. Participants will hear local audit results and learn about how litter damages local ecosystems. Walk-up registration the morning of the event is welcome. Time: 9:00- 11:30am. March 9, 2024 – Creekwood Fishing Derby – Bring your fishing poles to the 17th Annual Creekwood Fishing Derby and The Woodlands Township will provide the bait! T-Shirts are given on first come, first served basis. Prizes will be awarded for longest, heaviest, and smallest fish caught. All ages welcome to this free event. Time: 8:00-10:00am. March 14, 2024 – Teen Craft: Faerie Door – The South Regional Library is hosting Teen Craft: Faerie Door, where participants will create faerie doors for outdoor or indoor decoration. March 17 & April 21, 2024 – Fly Casting: Group Lessons – This class will cover basic casting fundamentals and provide a groundwork for understanding fly rods & reels, basic types and other components of fly fishing. March 23, 2024 – The Woodlands Garden Club Spring Plant Sale – The Woodlands Garden Club will be selling plants from members’ own gardens, herbs, floral arrangements, and crafts. Purchases can be made by cash or check; no credit cards. Knowledgeable garden club members are on hand to answer your questions and give advice about plants that tend to do well in our area. April 8, 2024 – Solar Eclipse Viewing Party – Looking for a fun place to view the solar eclipse? Head to the Mitchell Library’s Large Meeting Room to enjoy on-theme snacks, solar eclipse activities, and a photo booth to commemorate this once-in-a-lifetime celestial event! All attendees will be provided with solar-viewing glasses to safely view the eclipse! Hang out inside and then pop outside to see the show! Time: 2:00-3:00pm. April 13, 2024 – Gardening with Native Plants Class: Spring Landscape – Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Horticulture Agent Allison Schwarz will share her expertise in growing native plants in the home landscape. April 20, 2024 – Great Texas Birding Classic – The Great Texas Birding Classic is an annual competition held across Texas to determine which team can identify and count the most birds during a specific window of time. This is the biggest birdwatching tournament in the state and for the third year in a row, The Woodlands Township has a registered team! Residents are invited to join the team to help spot and identify birds. New to birding? Township team members will be your guide. Bring a lawn chair and binoculars, or borrow a pair from the Township, and join the watch. All ages are welcome. Time: 6:30-10:30am. April 24, 2024 – Read ‘n Row – Calling all young adventurers and families! Prepare to embark on an unforgettable literary voyage at the Riva Row Boat House. A staff member will read the book of the season, then participants will climb aboard tandem kayaks with fellow adventurers. April 26, 2024 – Moonlight Paddle – Join Riva Row Boat House staff for this unique opportunity to see Lake Woodlands by moonlight – on a kayak!
