Student-Led Youth Football Camp raises funds for The Champion Project

The Dragon Play Youth Football Camp, a youth football camp led by local students, just completed its second successful summer in The Woodlands. What started as a small initiative has grown into a full team effort – complete with a new website, strong community support, and a powerful mission.

The non-contact camp provided young athletes with a fun and engaging environment to develop their fundamentals through exciting drills and games. Led by varsity football players from The John Cooper School, the camp focused on building confidence and teamwork. 

This year, the camp partnered with and supported The Champion Project, a local non-profit devoted to serving youth in foster care. Through mentoring, educational support, and literacy programs, The Champion Project makes a meaningful impact on the lives of children & teens residing in 24-hour staffed facilities.

The camp raised $2,000 through signups and donations. The student coaches presented a check on July 18, 2025 to The Champion Project.

The Dragon Play Youth Football Camp student team includes Founder & Head Coach Z Hemani, Administrative Assistant Andre Wilson, and Coaches Pierson Todd, Eric Sipko, Colten Rhoden, Campbell Starley, Kian Yousenasna, Luke Horak, Tayden Robbins, David Esquivel, Christopher Prettyman, and Pancho Mena.
