The John Cooper School Middle School Students break new record in food donations
For the third consecutive year, The John Cooper School Middle School students have broken another record in their holiday food drive for the Montgomery County Food Bank (MCFB). Organized and promoted by the Student Council and Cooper Connects student ambassadors, the event once again engaged the entire division in a spirited community service initiative to support families in need during the holiday season.
This year, the Middle School surpassed all expectations, donating an impressive 2,608 pounds of food, continuing a trend of growth with each year. The total marks an increase of 653 pounds from the 1,955 pounds donated in 2023 and the 1,844 pounds collected in 2022.
“We are proud to see our Middle School students come together for such an important cause,” said Elisa Inman, Head of Middle School at The John Cooper School. “This initiative provides a meaningful way to assist those facing food insecurity in our area and offers our students a valuable opportunity to understand the significant impact of service and generosity within their community.”
The MCFB provides essential food assistance to families across Montgomery County, and the continued success of the Holiday Helpings Food and Funds Drive reflects the growing commitment to addressing local food insecurity.
The annual food drive not only reinforces the values of service and compassion that Cooper instills into its education for its students but also fosters a sense of pride and accomplishment among the students involved. By taking part in this initiative, Middle School students learn the importance of contributing to their community and making a positive difference in the lives of others.
The Middle School looks forward to continuing this tradition in the years to come and furthering its commitment to supporting the Montgomery County Food Bank and fighting food insecurity in the region.
