The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Kicks off Light The Night

By  |

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX – When you or someone you love hears the words “You have cancer,” it can be one of the darkest moments of your life. But the right community can offer you hope, connection, and crucial resources. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is bringing light to the blood cancer community through its Light The Night events, which are now open for registration.

LLS Light the Night

A global leader in the fight against cancer, LLS Texas Gulf Coast Region will celebrate its 2023 Light The Night® event at Town Green Park in The Woodlands, TX on November 5th.

Culminating in over 100 evening events each fall, communities across North America will join together at Light The Night carrying illuminated lanterns to take steps to end cancer – white for survivors, red for supporters, and gold in memory of loved ones lost to cancer.

The funds raised through Light The Night are used to support LLS’s mission priorities: Research, Education & Support, and Policy & Advocacy. Through campaigns like Light The Night, LLS has invested more than $1.6 billion since its inception in research to advance breakthrough therapies.

“Light The Night events are celebrations of light, support, and what we can achieve for blood cancer patients together,” said Billie Sue Parris, LLS Gulf Coast Region Executive Director.

From raising critical funds to driving forward policies that benefit patients to providing support to families, LLS volunteers and Light The Night communities are changing the future of blood cancer treatment and care.

“When you give your time and talent to LLS, you become part of a diverse, vibrant community of supporters from all walks of life who are helping us cure blood cancers,” said Parris.

Despite the progress, more than a third of blood cancer patients still do not survive five years after their diagnosis.
