CONROE, TX – The Signorelli Company and its homebuilding division, First America Homes, were recently joined by Conroe city officials and supporters of nonprofit Angel Reach for a ribbon-cutting ceremony marking a major milestone for its Angel Reach Village development, the completion of eight duplexes, built by First America Homes, that will house youth at risk for homelessness.

The duplexes will enable nonprofit Angel Reach to provide safe shelter and support services for 32 more youth, ages 16 to 24, who have aged out of the foster care system or need housing and services due to other life circumstances. When finished, this phase of Angel Reach Village will have a total of 16 duplexes, sheltering 64 youth. The Signorelli Company is lending its expertise as lead developer for the village, which is now over 80% complete.

As part of their annual campaign to “pay it forward,” the Signorelli team also generated more than $2 million in funding and services for Angel Reach Village through employee contributions, fundraising, and donated construction and development services.

“Building better places that enrich lives is what we do, so applying our skills and resources to build safe homes for these young people is an honor,” said Danny Signorelli, CEO of The Signorelli Company. “We are all blessed in so many ways, that it’s built into the fabric of our company to find ways to serve.”

Signorelli added that many generous friends and associates, along with City of Conroe leadership, deserve gratitude for answering the call to support the project. “We need to give a huge thank you to Mayor Jody Czajkoski and Councilmembers Todd Yancey and Curt Maddux for all of their help,” he said.

The village duplexes each contain two 550-square-foot units with two bedrooms and a bathroom. Each unit is designed to accommodate two youths, with the first residents expected to move in in mid-December 2023.

“The Angel Reach project has been an incredible opportunity for our team to come together to help change the trajectory of many lives for generations to come, right here in our backyard,” said Dave Barnhart, President of First America Homes. “It was a privilege to be part of it.”

An additional five duplexes were recently constructed on the property by Grace Point Homes. HomeAid, a nonprofit partner of The Greater Houston Builders Association, will construct the final three duplexes through a contract with homebuilder LevelTx. Completion is expected in early March, 2024.

The Greater Houston area is home to over 7,000 children in foster care, with 300 youth aging out of the system each year.

Along with a safe home, Angel Reach residents receive behavioral health counseling, life skills classes, employment resources and other services that help them transition to a sustainable, independent future.

“It takes a village to address the growing problem of youth homelessness,’ said Jean Radach, Executive Director of Angel Reach. “We are so grateful to The Signorelli Company for the many ways they have contributed to making this transformative development possible.”
