Township News

Township Held Special Board of Directors Meeting
The Woodlands Township Board of Directors held a Special Board Meeting via videoconference today, Monday, August 17, 2020, at 9 a.m. The Board deferred adopting the 2021 budget and 2020 property tax rate until the certified taxable property values and newly certified effective and rollback rates are received by the Township. The meeting can be viewed online.

Township to Hold Regular Board of Directors Meeting 
The Woodlands Township Board of Directors will hold a Regular Board Meeting via videoconference today, Thursday, August 20, 2020, at 6 p.m. Central Daylight Time. View the meeting online.

Four Township Pools Open Post Season Until Labor Day
Four pools in The Woodlands will be open on weekends from noon to 6 p.m. until September 7, 2020: Alden Bridge, Bear Branch, Sawmill and Wendtwoods. Alden Bridge Pool will also be open for weekday enjoyment Tuesday through Friday from noon to 6 p.m. until August 28, 2020. Daily rates for post-season pools (I.D. required): Resident $5; Non-Resident $10.

Montgomery County COVID-19 Case Count Sees an Increase of 203 Positive Cases
Montgomery County Public Health District, in conjunction with the Montgomery County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, can very sadly confirm an additional death related to COVID-19, bringing the total to 97.

  • A man in his 50s, from Montgomery, died in the hospital. He had co-morbidities in addition to testing positive for COVID-19. They offer their condolences to his family at this difficult time.

They can also confirm:

  • TOTAL cases of COVID-19 increased by 203 to 7160 since the Friday’s report.
  • ACTIVE cases of COVID-19 increased by 93 to 1,336 since the Friday’s report.
  • 55 residents are known to be in the hospital, as a result of contact investigations. Contact investigations have not been initiated on all reported cases.
  • 5,118 people have clinically recovered.

Harris County Public Health (HCPH) publishes their daily case count, combined with the City of Houston’s daily case count, here. Cases by zip code in Harris County can be found by clicking on areas of the map.
 
The Village of Creekside Park is located in two zip codes: 77375 and 77389, and these also include Magnolia, Augusta Pines/Auburn Lakes/West Rayford Road in northwest Harris County. Today, Harris County is reporting zip code 77375 has 668 confirmed positive cases with 225 active cases, and 77389 has 333 confirmed positive cases with 81 active cases.

Chairman Bunch Discusses COVID-19 and Different Types of Tests Available
Free COVID-19 testing is available for residents of Montgomery County online at https://www.mchd-tx.org. Call 936-523-3916 for more information. Harris County residents may also sign up for free COVID-19 testing online at hcphtx.org. Call 832-927-7575 for more information. Watch the video here.

Testing in Montgomery County
Online registration is available for COVID-19 testing through the Montgomery County Public Health and Montgomery County Hospital District (MCPHD/MCHD) voucher program. Click on “Need to be tested?” on mchd-tx.org or mcphd-tx.org and follow the instructions. The COVID-19 Call Center’s number is 936-523-3916. It is open Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Testing in Harris County
Get tested, it’s free! To sign up for testing, visit hcphtx.org or ReadyHarris.org or you can call 832-927-7575. View flyer for more information. Once tested, results from HCPH testing sites can take up to 5 days to process. As you wait for your results, stay home and self-isolate, especially if you are sick, practice social distancing (6 ft/2 m) and wear a face-covering. View flyer for more information on the next steps after you have been tested.

Governor Announces Federally Funded COVID-19 Testing Sites in Harris County
Governor Greg Abbott announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has established four temporary COVID-19 surge testing sites in Harris County. Two testing sites in Houston, one in Pasadena and one in Kingwood are currently open and will remain open through August 29, 2020. Each location will be able to process 1,250 tests per day, or a total of 60,000 tests across the four sites. Read more information about the sites.

Use Caution in Active School Zones
While students are at home for remote-learning, principals, teachers, paraprofessionals, custodial crews and additional staff members are currently present at their respective campuses. Movie Theaters in The Woodlands
The theaters listed below are currently open or will be opening soon. Please read below for safety procedures, guidelines and specials for each specific theatre.

Cinemark Tinseltown 17 & XD | 1600 Lake Robbins Drive, The Woodlands, TX 77380
This theatre is currently open. Guests are required to wear face masks throughout the theatre and may be removed when eating and drinking inside the auditorium, encouraged to purchase contactless ticketing and asked to practice physical distancing of at least 6 feet. Additional guest guidelines and cleaning standards.

Cinemark at Market Street | 9595 Six Pines Drive, Suite 8200, The Woodlands, TX 77380:This location opens Friday, August 28, 2020.

Cinépolis Luxury Cinemas | 26543 Kuykendahl Road, The Woodlands, TX 77375:

Guests are encouraged to wear a mask when not eating or drinking, reserve tickets online, enter and exit orderly and avoid congregation. View the new safety and health procedures. This location is currently offering a special to rent the entire theatre for $250. This gives 25 of your friends a movie ticket as well as unlimited soft drinks and popcorn!
