The Woodlands Township Board holds videoconference meeting

By  |

The Woodlands Township Board of Directors held a special meeting via videoconference on Monday, August 17, 2020 at 9 a.m.

The Board deferred adopting the 2021 budget and 2020 property tax rate until the certified taxable property values and newly certified effective and rollback rates are received by the Township. The Special Meeting is scheduled to take place at 6 p.m. on Thursday, September 10, 2020.

The Board also received a report on actions taken by the Montgomery County Commissioners on August 11, 2020, which rescinded the County’s Third Amendment to the Law Enforcement Agreement between Montgomery County and The Woodlands Township. The Board took action to propose extension of the law enforcement agreement for four years starting January 2021 through the end of 2024, with an additional ‘transition term,’ in the event of incorporation. This proposed agreement will continue the existing law enforcement service levels and carry forward the transition services agreement for incorporation, should it occur between 2021 and the end of 2024, with modifications to address concerns raised by the Sheriff’s Office and eliminating a termination clause during the transition period.

The Board tabled adopting the Amended Order Calling Directors, Incorporation, and Maximum Initial Municipal Property Tax Rate Election.
