Township begins strategic planning for 2022 and beyond
The Woodlands Township Board of Directors began its strategic planning for 2022 and beyond during their first strategic planning session of the year.
The session was held February 17, 2022, at 4 p.m., at the office of The Woodlands Township, 2801 Technology Forest Blvd, The Woodlands, Texas, just prior to their regular board meeting.
During the Strategic Planning Session, Township directors engaged in a broad discussion regarding the eight focus areas of the Vision 2034 Strategic Plan: service delivery, communications, organizational support, governance, economic development, transportation and mobility, environmental sustainability and fiscal policy.
The Board touched on each of the focus areas above and noted priorities, especially in economic development, communications, and service delivery.
Monique Sharp, who was named President and General Manager in the Board’s Regular Meeting, explained that the discussion during the Strategic Planning Session is the beginning of the process for updating the Board’s Strategic Plan and developing staff plans and measurement tools.
“This is a valuable and important discussion,” she said. “Township staff will summarize the Board’s comments and directives on the focus areas noted in preparation for a future Strategic Planning Session where related goals and key initiatives will be discussed. Staff will also use the Board’s discussion on focus areas as guidance for development of the 2023 Budget and Five-Year Plan.”

The Board will continue their strategic planning to include additional planning sessions, workshops and other opportunities as part of the planning process to be discussed at future meetings.
