Township honors those who serve at 10th annual Public Safety Awards

The Woodlands Township recently honored The Woodlands Fire Department and public safety individuals for their dedication and heroic efforts in 2021 to make The Woodlands one of the safest communities in the United States.

The Township recognized these achievements at the 10th annual Public Safety Awards held Saturday, March 26, 2022, at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel and Convention Center with hundreds of people in attendance, including honorees, guests and community leaders. 

The event, called “Honoring Those Who Serve,” paid tribute to the commitment and heroic efforts of 24 individuals representing The Woodlands Fire Department, Texas Department of Public Safety – DPS, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Montgomery County Hospital District, Montgomery County Constable’s Office, Precinct 3 and Harris County Constable’s Office, Precinct 4. Each honoree was chosen by their respective departments for exemplary service, heroic efforts and dedication to public safety in The Woodlands. 

“The Woodlands Fire Department and our partner agencies work diligently to ensure the safety and security of residents, visitors and businesses of The Woodlands,” said Township President and General Manager Monique Sharp. “We commend them for going the extra mile in making The Woodlands a safer community.”

The Woodlands Township produces and hosts this event each year, along with support and sponsorships from many other businesses and individuals in The Woodlands and South Montgomery County area. This year, The Howard Hughes Corporation was the Honor Sponsor. Other major sponsors were America’s ER, Woodforest National Bank and Alpha and Omega Mounted Patrol.   

“The Woodlands Township’s number one priority is to protect the well-being and safety of the community,” said Township Director Jason J. Nelson, who was the Master of Ceremonies for the event. “The Township makes a substantial commitment of resources in law enforcement and fire services. The Township is highly proactive about public safety and will continue to foster the strong relationships we have built. We sponsor multiple public safety programs throughout the year, bringing public safety to the neighborhoods and encouraging residents to get involved.” 

The honorees this year were:

  • Meritorious Service Award – Trooper John Morris (Department of Public Safety)
  • Meritorious Service Award – Trooper Calandus Sadler (Department of Public Safety)
  • Meritorious Service Award – Sergeant Alexander Randall (Montgomery County Constable’s Office, Precinct 3)
  • Meritorious Service Award – Detective Jessica Epperson (Montgomery County Constable’s Office, Precinct 3)
  • Meritorious Service Award – Detective Sean Bridges (Montgomery County Constable’s Office, Precinct 3)
  • Meritorious Service Award – Detective Robert Espinosa (Montgomery County Constable’s Office, Precinct 3)
  • Commendation Award – Corporal John Ryan (Harris County Constable’s Office, Precinct 4)
  • Commendation Award – Deputy Jorge Ramirez (Harris County Constable’s Office, Precinct 4)
  • Commendation Award – Deputy Joe Thomason (Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office)
  • Meritorious Service Award – Captain Tim Holifield (Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office)
  • Meritorious Service Award – Sergeant David Foreman (Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office
  • Commendation Award — Deputy Konrad Janke (Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office)
  • Community Policing Award – Deputy Jeffery Lackey Jr. (Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office)
  • Life Saving Award – Deputy Adam Johnson (Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office)
  • Combat Cross Award – Sergeant Federico Cano (Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office)
  • Combat Cross Award – Deputy Matthew Wyatt (Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office)
  • Combat Cross Award – Deputy Dominic Trevino (Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office)

  • Life Saving Award – Attendant Shelbi Martin (Montgomery County Hospital District)
