Traffic Delays due to The Woodlands Marathon

If planning on traveling on Saturday, March 3 through The Woodlands, Texas, you will need to prepare for traffic delays due to the annual race, The Woodlands Marathon.

The Woodlands Marathon is held annually and includes a marathon, half marathon, marathon relay, 5-kilometer race and 2-kilometer Fun Run/Walk. Residents and drivers passing through The Woodlands will need to expect 5 minute delays at intersections, add 10-15 extra for your travel times, and map your own course prior to race day.

Routes and Event Traffic Information (provided by The Woodlands Marathon):

  • Only residential traffic is recommended through and around the racecourse during the hours of 6:30am and 1:30pm.
  • Travel routes that are OPEN:
    •  Northbound
      • Kuykendahl 9:30 am-130pm
      • Woodloch Forest 7am-1130am
      • FM 2978 7am-130pm
      • I-45 7am-130pm
    •  Southbound
      • Branch Crossing 7am-130pm,
      • Woodloch Forest 7am-1130am
      • FM 2978 7am-130pm
      • I-45 7am-130pm.
    •  Westbound
      • Research Forest Drive 7am-130pm
      • I-45 7am-130pm
      • Lake Woodlands Drive (westbound) 7am-130pm
    •  Eastbound
      • HWY 242 7am-130pm Open
      • Woodlands Parkway 7am-130pm Open
  • Businesses and neighborhoods will be accessible during the race.  
  • NOTE: Eastbound Lake Woodlands Drive will have all lanes closed between 630am-10am from Kuykendahl to Lake Front Circle.   One lane will open for eastbound traffic approximately 10am.
  • Lake Woodlands westbound will have contra flow. Vehicles will be traveling east and west from Lake Front Circle will be traveling both directions – east and west.
