By  |

Today, Montgomery County Sheriff Wesley Doolittle and leaders from 23 law enforcement agencies addressed the media in a press conference held at the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office in advance of a major car show in our community that draws car enthusiasts from across the country. As stated by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, a new task force called “Street Takeover Task Force” is being formed “to ensure that those who are coming from all over for a local car show and choose to break our laws, disrupt our way of life, and expose our community to dangers will not be tolerated.”

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office shared in a press release following the conference that, “Sheriff Doolittle assembled a multi-agency task force to combat criminal behavior by participants and spectators who are not associated with the car show organizers. These participators turn into criminal actors and engage in ‘after parties’ that lead to dangerous and illegal activities, including street and parking lot takeovers and reckless driving. These criminal actions can cause property damage, severe injuries, and even death.”

“If you are planning to attend this event, please be aware that the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office has a strict zero-tolerance policy for illegal activity or any actions that could endanger the safety of our community. The Sheriff’s Office, along with many surrounding partner agencies, will be out in full force on each day of the event. Our priority is ensuring the safety and well-being of our citizens and keeping everyone safe during the event.”

Sheriff Doolittle stated, “I am proud of the collaboration and teamwork of the many law enforcement agencies that united in a common goal: to ensure the peacefulness of Montgomery County so it remains a safe place to live, work, and enjoy events responsibly. We will protect our community and our way of life without compromise.”
