10th Annual CASA Superhero Run/Walk Announces New Home in Grand Central Park
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX – The 10th Annual CASA Superhero Run/Walk, one of Montgomery County’s most popular family gatherings, makes its return Saturday, October 26 at a new location amidst the tree-lined trails of Grand Central Park just north of The Woodlands.
Now at its new home, the 10th Annual CASA Superhero Run/Walk benefiting Child Advocates of Montgomery County will offer a 5K trail run/walk, a one-mile fun run/walk, food, drinks and fun activities for the entire family – all in support of abused and neglected children in Montgomery County.
As always, participants are encouraged to dress as their favorite superheroes as a symbolic gesture of running and walking with a sense of strength and determination on behalf of those in need.
“We are delighted to be able to bring our Superheroes to Grand Central Park for the 10th annual CASA Superhero Run,” says Ann McAlpin, executive director of CASA Child Advocates of Montgomery County. “This is a rare opportunity to be the first to run or walk on this particular course—a beautiful, well-maintained trail through the woods and around scenic lakes.”
McAlpin continues, “The community loves this event—an opportunity to use their superpowers for the good of kids in foster care, and we’re excited about this move to Grand Central Park. Johnson Development has been a long-time supporter of CASA, of kids in the foster care system, and we really appreciate their partnering with us for this unique event.”
Both the 5K and one-mile events will begin at Grand Central Park’s picturesque Deer Lake where runners and walkers will follow the community’s winding trails and return back for a lakeside post-race party. Opening ceremonies begin at 8:00 a.m. The one-mile fun run/walk starts at 8:15 followed by the 5K trail run/walk starting at 8:30.
To reach the registration area, enter the community from I-45 South and turn on Camp Strake Road off the feeder. Then follow the event signs to Grand Central Park’s Deer Lake. Ample, free onsite parking is available.
“We’re thrilled to serve as the new home of the CASA Superhero Run/Walk,” adds Shannon League, director of marketing for Grand Central Park. “Our Grandeur trail system provides families the opportunity to participate in a worthwhile cause while getting up close to the natural beauty of this forested property.”
