“Run Thru The Woods has grown into a local tradition in which, year after year, families and friends come together in support of the YMCA and its ongoing mission to strengthen our communities,” said Peter Huntsman, Chairman, President and CEO of Huntsman Corp. “We are very thankful to be in a position to serve as the presenting sponsor again and encourage everyone to register and have fun at this outstanding event.”.

The event was designed for everyone to participate, categories and start times included a competitive one-mile Children’s Race for ages 12 and younger starting at 7:30 a.m.; a five-mile race at 8:15 a.m.; and a three-mile race and three-mile walk starting at 8:25 a.m. The start/finish line was located on Lake Robbins in front of The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion and participants were encouraged to wear their favorite Thanksgiving costume. The charity event exceeded last year’s registration numbers, attracting more than 4,100 participants from around the country to run/walk for the cause. Post Race Celebration includes refreshments, activities for the kids and awards ceremony.

YMCA Run Thru the Woods’ net proceeds will benefit The Woodlands Family YMCA Annual Campaign that helps everyone, regardless of age, income or background, have the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive at the Y. Programs include life-saving swim lessons, after school care, support services/outreach programs, summer day camp and youth sports.
