5K Run Only for Woodforest Bank TRI in The Woodlands

By  |

The Woodforest Bank TRI, produced by The Woodlands Township Parks and Recreation Department, has transitioned to a 5K run only on Saturday, May 11, 2019.

A participant update was released by The Woodlands Township on Friday, May 10, 2019:

Dear Participant,
As you are aware, The Woodlands Township has been communicating with all registered athletes regarding forecasted weather concerns on Race Day for the 2019 Woodforest Bank TRI.
Race Management has worked diligently to evaluate and exhaust all plans to continue conducting the race in a manner that upholds the safety of all participants, staff and volunteers.
With a strong window of opportunity for thunderstorms, rain and unfavorable road conditions for cycling, we are unable to fully guarantee all resources will be available to safely conduct the bike portion of the now duathlon.
At this time, the event will be transitioning to a 5K run only starting and finishing at Town Green Park (weather permitting). The 5K run will utilize the Waterway, offering a safer route for participants that no longer requires the resources needed for a road event. The race will begin at 7 a.m. Participants are directed to park in the Town Center Parking Garage and Gold Lot off of Six Pines and Lake Robbins and other public lots located in Town Center. A course map will be available as soon as possible.
All post-race activities, including live music, food, beverages and awards, will take place at the Event Center (2005 Lake Robbins Drive). Athletes are encouraged to attend after finishing the race.
As always, participant, staff and volunteer safety is the top priority. In the event weather conditions do not warrant the 5K race to safely take place tomorrow morning, participants will be notified of any cancellation by 5:30 a.m.
Please continue to check your email for race updates. Feel free to contact with any questions.
Thank you for your patience in this matter and your commitment to the Woodforest Bank TRI!
