After Arts Festival’s Success, The Woodlands Arts Council looks forward to 2025

By  |

A beautiful weekend of spring weather set the scene for the 19th annual The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival, which took place April 12-14, 2024. Over 200 artists, authors, and performers worldwide traveled to The Woodlands and provided exciting moments of artistic discovery for residents and visitors alike.

On Friday, The Art Dash Party, presented by The Woodlands Compounding Pharmacy and hosted at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott, brought community art enthusiasts and generous VIP artists together for an energetic evening of celebration. Notably, this year’s featured art, a painting called “Water Break” by Regina Lyubovnaya, was live auctioned for a record-setting sum of $23,000.

The Woodlands Arts Council produced this year’s festival with the help of partners The Woodlands Children’s Museum and Village Books The Woodlands, plus over 500 community volunteers who contributed their time & talents throughout the weekend. As a non-profit, funds raised at The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival and The Art Dash Party help perpetuate the long-standing Student Art Scholarship program, microgrant program, and public art initiative and help produce more community art events.

“We heard from the artists repeatedly how incredible the team, volunteers, and patrons are in our community. We are so grateful to have such immense support. If you volunteered or came out to the festival and participated in the creative economy, we are so grateful!” said Jenny Carattini-Wright, TWAC executive director.

Looking forward to celebrating 20 years as an organization, The Woodlands Arts Council is expanding with several new events!

The first-ever Young Makers Market, hosted at Market Street The Woodlands on September 7, 2024, invites Montgomery County students ages 8-18 to sell their art in a one-day mini-arts festival. The application is open until April 30, 2024.

The inaugural Texas Fine Craft Show, hosted at The Woodlands Resort from November 1 to 3, will celebrate the art of fine craft. Applications are open until April 21st.

President of The Woodlands Arts Council Board Glen Rector reflected, “For 20 years, we have amplified art in Montgomery County, and we have seen the rich impact of these efforts reflected back to us. We look forward to what these new events will bring to the legacy of prioritizing art in our community.”
