Summer Safety Press Conference addresses 100 Deadliest Days

The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, along with the local representatives and law enforcement agencies, held a press conference about Summer Safety on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at 9 a.m. in Northshore Park in The Woodlands.

The goal of the event was to address the 100 Deadliest Days that is seen for roadway fatalities and the general spike in child injuries and fatalities that occur during the summer. The press event was a joint effort between District Attorney Office’s Vehicular Crimes (roadway/lake safety, responsible alcohol use, etc.) and Safe Harbor (swimming safety, bike/ATV safety, etc.).

Local representatives spoke on summer safety including:

  • Montgomery County District Attorney Brett Ligon
  • Montgomery County Sheriff Rand Henderson
  • Vehicular Crimes Chief Prosecutor Taylor Vanegas
  • Charisse Thomas, M.A.D.D.
  • Montgomery County Hospital District Chief of EMS James Campbell
  • Chief Prosecutor Brittney Aaron

Local representatives from MCHD (EMS), The Woodlands Fire Department, MADD, The Woodlands Township, Montgomery County Precinct 3 Commissioner James Noack, Montgomery County Constable Offices, and many of the Law Enforcement agencies in the county.

The overall message to the public is that first responders and community partners are here and ready, but they hope the public can enjoy the summer without needing them.
