Video: Reading of the Declaration of Independence at The Starfox Team’s Annual 4th of July Luncheon
Jose Palafox, Senior Vice President and Financial Advisor of Wealth Enhancement Group – The Starfox Team, has an annual tradition of reading the Declaration of Independence during the week of the 4th of July. Today at The Woodlands Country Club in the Palmer Clubhouse, colleagues, clients, friends, family, and members of the community were invited to join The Starfox Team at their annual 4th of July Luncheon.

After enjoying lunch, Jose shared his personal story of how at 5-years-old his family immigrated from Mexicali, Mexico to the United States. Later at 18-years-old, Jose enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served as a Meteorologist for 8 years. In 2002 Jose met his wonderful wife, and then fast forward to now where they have five grown children and care for a 3-year-old who brings them joy and keeps the couple on their toes. Today, July 3, Jose celebrates his own anniversary of becoming a United States citizen in 1986, a big moment in his life. Another pivotal time is when he was 12-years-old and became a Christian, accepting Jesus Christ.
Jose’s experience in the U.S. Air Force, his marriage, and his faith in God shaped him into the man he is today – Jose is proud to be an American. During the event, he reflected on our founding fathers and how our country was founded on “their beliefs that God is part of it.” Jose read Benjamin Franklin’s Constitutional Convention Address on Prayer delivered on June 28, 1787 in Philadelphia, PA where Franklin called the assembly to daily Christian prayer, requesting God’s guidance in their deliberations.
The event concluded with a reading of the Declaration of Independence, adopted by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776. In this founding document, the 13 American colonies severed their political connections to Great Britain and listed motivations for seeking independence. When the fifty-six men came together and signed the Declaration of Independence, they were declaring their independence from Great Britain, but at the same time, they declared dependence upon God.
