The Woodlands Fire Department extinguishes McCullough Jr. High School Roof Fire
At 10:00 a.m. this morning The Woodlands Fire Department was dispatched to McCullough Jr. High School, 3800 S. Panther Creek, for a reported fire.
Staff and students were evacuating as firefighters arrived. Crews were directed to the roof where welding (as part of the school expansion) had been taking place and located a smoldering fire in the roof assembly. Firefighters had to cut open the roof to locate and extinguish the fire. Other crews checked for extension and then ventilated the second floor. Students and staff were allowed to return after ventilation was complete.

The Woodlands Fire Department was assisted by Timber Lakes Volunteer Fire Department, Montgomery County Hospital District and Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
The fire caused minor damage to the roof assembly and Montgomery County Fire Marshal’s Office determined cause was heat from welding that ignited the existing roof.
