Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital turns up the heat for community hunger relief at annual Chili Cook-Off
Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital employees turned friendly competition into community impact during their annual Chili Cook-Off. Staff were encouraged to showcase their best chili recipes while spending time with colleagues and supporting neighbors facing food insecurity through a food drive benefiting the Montgomery County Food Bank.
As part of the event, employees donated nonperishable food items to support the food bank’s mission of providing reliable access to nutritious meals for individuals and families in need throughout Montgomery County.
The annual cook-off brings employees together for camaraderie while reinforcing a shared commitment to giving back locally – both in their work and in friendly competition. Timed with the start of a week-long food drive, the cook-off helped Houston Methodist The Woodlands collect more than 250 nonperishable items on just day one of the drive.

“Serving our community extends far beyond the walls of our hospital,” David Bernard, CEO of Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital said. “Our team was proud to come together today to support the Montgomery County Food Bank and help advance their mission of bringing hope and nourishment to families who need it most.”
