Child Advocates of Montgomery County hosts Prevailing HOPE Luncheon, Raises Critical Funds for Children in Crisis
Child Advocates of Montgomery County hosted its first-ever Prevailing HOPE: A Gathering for Good Luncheon on Wednesday, Aug. 26, at The Peach Orchard. More than 220 guests gathered for the inaugural event, presented by Lennar, benefiting the children and families served by Child Advocates of Montgomery County.
Keynote speaker Amelia Rose Earhart set out to do something almost nobody does: fly around the world in a single-engine aircraft, completing that 28,000-nautical-mile journey in 2014. A news reporter for 15 years, Earhart has spent a decade leading the Fly With Amelia Foundation, which helps young women pursue flight school, and has shared her lessons on resilience with leaders at Boeing, American Express and Berkshire Hathaway. Her keynote address compared the work of Child Advocates volunteers to that of an air traffic controller, guiding children and families through turbulence toward a safer landing.
As part of the inaugural luncheon, guests also celebrated the nine nominees for the Women Who Prevail Award, recognizing Montgomery County women who turned their own hardest chapter, or someone else’s, into strength for their community. This year’s nominees were Dawn Candy, Amayramy (Amy) Doss, Taryn Gordon, Dr. Christine Lee, Linda Nelson, Amy Ong, Dr. Ann K. Snyder, Emily Springer and Malinda Stewart. Doss, a Victim Assistance Coordinator with the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office who has spent her career as a steady hand for survivors of domestic violence, was named the 2026 Women Who Prevail Award recipient.
At the conclusion of the event, Ann Wolford was announced as the winner of a pair of diamond hoop earrings donated by Jared Jewelers as part of a jewelry raffle benefiting Child Advocates of Montgomery County.
“This afternoon, you have the power to let hope prevail right here in Montgomery County, and your generosity makes that possible,” said Ann Marie Ronsman, President and CEO of Child Advocates of Montgomery County. “For as long as children face turbulence, we will be there, a trained volunteer Advocate stepping into their lives to help them find their way through.”
Child Advocates of Montgomery County is the only nonprofit in Texas providing volunteer Advocates across the child welfare, juvenile justice and truancy systems. It has served every child in Montgomery County’s foster care system for 11 years, and its Justice-Involved Youth and Educational Advocacy programs are the first of their kind in Texas. In 34 years, the organization has served more than 10,700 children experiencing trauma.
The inaugural luncheon was presented by Lennar, with underwriting from Waste Connections (program) and Chesmar Foundation (lunch). Additional sponsors included Jared Jewelers, Entergy, Premiere Events, Jessica and Trey Brice, Howard Hughes and Intimate Gatherings, with thanks to the Junior League of The Woodlands for its support.
