Annual Public Safety Awards Honored Those Who Serve

The Woodlands Township honored 17 public safety personnel for going the extra mile to make The Woodlands a safe community as The Woodlands Township hosted the Annual Public Safety Awards, Honoring Those Who Serve.

Held Saturday, March 25, 2017, at The Woodlands Resort and Conference Center with hundreds of people in attendance, including honorees, guests, and community leaders, the event paid tribute to 17 individuals in public safety from The Woodlands Fire Department, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, the Montgomery County Hospital District, the Montgomery County Constable’s Office, Precinct 3, and Texas Department of Public Safety, Highway Patrol. Each honoree was chosen by their respective department for exemplary service and dedication to public safety.

Receiving the Meritorious Unit Award for distinctive professionalism and dedication to duty to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office were: Sr. Sergeant Brice Herring, Deputy Thomas Epperson, Deputy Moamen Abdelbaky, Deputy Theo Pternitis and Deputy Jonathan Combs.

Receiving the Community Policing Award for distinctive professionalism and dedication to duty to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office was Deputy Brian Aguilar.

Receiving the Meritorious Service Award for distinctive professionalism and dedication to duty to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Highway Patrol was Trooper Kenneth Chapman.

Receiving the Meritorious Service Award for distinctive professionalism and dedication to duty to the Montgomery County Constable’s Office, Pct. 3 was Detective Adam Acosta.

Receiving the Meritorious Service Award for distinctive professionalism and dedication to duty to the Montgomery County Hospital District was Paramedic Sara Horton.

Receiving a Life Saving Award for distinctive professionalism and dedication to duty, crew of Engine 101, A-shift, to The Woodlands Fire Department were: Lieutenant Chris Berg, Driver Operator Brett Eaton, Firefighter Michael de los Reyes and Firefighter Brian Holasek.

Receiving a Life Saving Award for distinctive professionalism and dedication to duty, crew of Truck 106, A-shift, to The Woodlands Fire Department were: Lieutenant Larry Grissom, Driver Operator Raymond Muse, Firefighter Paul Taylor and Firefighter T.J. Moore.

The Woodlands Township hosts this event each year, along with support and sponsorships from many other businesses and individuals in The Woodlands and South Montgomery County area. This year, the major sponsors were America’s ER, Kroger, Woodforest National Bank, Alpha and Omega Mounted Security Patrol, CB&I, The Woodlands Development Company, The Howard Hughes Corporation, Memorial Hermann, FirstSouthwest and The Woodlands Area Economic Development Partnership.

“Every one of these individuals ensures the safety and security of residents and visitors of The Woodlands,” said The Woodlands Township Board Secretary Dr. Ann Snyder, who served as emcee for the event. “We commend them for going the extra mile in making The Woodlands a safer community.”
