Auto Crime Ring arrested after law enforcement vehicle stolen in Spring

On the morning of July 20, 2024, Montgomery County Precinct 3 Constable Ryan Gable’s Patrol Deputies and Detectives responded to a residence in the Legends Trace subdivision, Spring where a law enforcement special operations vehicle was forcibly entered and stolen from a residential driveway. Precinct 3 Detectives immediately began reviewing surveillance video, and attempted to track the location of the stolen vehicle. Items that were inside the vehicle were dumped near the city of Crosby in Harris County, leading Precinct 3 Detectives to search locations in both Harris County and Liberty County, Texas.

Later that night, the vehicle was stopped and recovered in Brooks County, Texas, by Texas DPS Troopers as it was traveling towards the Mexican border. Precinct 3 Detectives traveled to Brooks County to interview the suspects who were in possession of the stolen vehicle. During the course of the investigation, five defendants were charged and arrested over the past four weeks in connection with Felony Theft and Engaging in Organized Crime.
