Child Advocates of Montgomery County announces Board Member Appointment, Names New Board Leadership

Child Advocates of Montgomery County announced the appointment of Matthew Borges, Assistant Director of Ambulatory Surgical Operations at Texas Children’s Hospital, to their board of directors. The board also confirmed its officers for the coming year, supporting the nonprofit’s mission to empower vulnerable children through volunteer advocacy and strengthen their family and community with education, so they can flourish in a safe, nurturing environment.

“We’re excited to expand our board with members who bring diverse expertise and insight to our work,” said President and CEO Ann Marie Ronsman. “We have worked diligently to ensure Child Advocates’ board and leadership represent a variety of experts from diverse backgrounds, and Matt is no exception.”

Mark Freeman was confirmed as board chair for a second year. Freeman, who has served on the board since 2021, said, “I am honored to continue leading this dedicated group in support of such a crucial nonprofit organization serving our community. We welcome Matt Borges and look forward to his contributions.”

Christina Meineke and Katie Beatty will continue as vice chair and treasurer, respectively, while Justin Lime was named board secretary.

Freeman added, “On behalf of the board, I want to express our gratitude to Julie Barrett, who has concluded her service as a valued board member. We wish Julie the best in her future endeavors and appreciate her service and counsel.”
