Set against the waterfront backdrop of City Place Park and The Plaza, the August lineup offers residents and visitors alike a chance to gather, connect and make lasting memories.

On Saturday, August 8, fans of Swedish pop legends ABBA will want to snag a spot on the plaza for a nighttime screening of “Mamma Mia!,” the acclaimed jukebox musical set on a colorful Greek island where romance and mischief rule the day. With a stacked cast including Meryl Streep, Amanda Seyfried, Pierce Brosnan and Colin Firth, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Get in the mood with Mediterranean bites from City Place’s Island Grill, located just a few steps away.

On Saturday, August 22, City Place welcomes back Spring-area book purveyor Good Books In The Woods for another pop-up event on the plaza, kicking off at 10 a.m. This local bookshop has earned accolades on social media for its cozy vibes and inventory of classics and modern favorites. It’s a veritable fantasyland for book lovers, and the pop-up brings a bit of that magic to City Place.

Have you ever wanted to learn how to fly-fish but didn’t know where to begin? On Saturday, September 12, expert instructors from Orvis’ retail store in The Woodlands, just north of Spring, will be on hand for an informative workshop teaching the art and technique of fly-fishing for a fun, welcoming day on the water at the City Place Nature Preserve, just a few blocks from the main plaza. All the gear you need will be provided, and during every session, participants will have a chance to win their very own fly-fishing kit. Whether you’re a beginner or looking to sharpen your skills, come enjoy a family-friendly day of fishing, learning and outdoor fun.
