Education for Tomorrow Alliance Science Fair 2024: Honoring Young Scientific Minds

The Education for Tomorrow Alliance Science Fair, held on January 19, 2024, showcased the impressive scientific talents of 7th and 8th-grade honors students from The Woodlands Methodist School. Hosted at Lone Star College, this event brought together budding scientists who demonstrated their passion for inquiry and discovery.

Among the standout performers were several students who clinched top honors in their respective divisions. Jake Mahlman, Hanna Lee, Sachi Lee, Cameron Byrd, Sophie Stone, and Sam Perkey secured first place in their divisions, showcasing their exceptional understanding of scientific principles and innovative approaches to experimentation. Additionally, Leah Flotte, Ella Burns, and Caleb Miller distinguished themselves by securing second place, while Luke Clark demonstrated his prowess by earning third place in his division.

These remarkable students didn’t stop at the local level. They continued to excel on a broader stage, advancing to the Houston Regional Science Fair, held on February 16, 2024. Here, they faced even stiffer competition, yet their dedication and hard work shone through.

At the Houston Regional Science Fair, the talents of these young scientists were duly recognized. Sam Perkey received an Honorable Mention in Mathematics, showcasing his proficiency in this critical STEM field. Caleb Miller’s efforts were rewarded with a special award from the esteemed Houston Astronomical Society, underlining his exceptional achievements in the realm of astronomy. Sachi Lee’s commitment to scientific inquiry was rewarded with a third-place finish in Medicine & Health and an overall Honorable Mention, further solidifying her status as a rising star in the scientific community.

Notably, Sachi Lee’s journey doesn’t end here. With her outstanding performance, she has earned the opportunity to represent The Woodlands Methodist School and her community at the state level. Sachi will advance to participate in the state science fair at Texas A&M University on March 22nd-23rd, where she will compete against other top young scientists from across Texas.

It’s worth highlighting that these exceptional students hail from The Woodlands Methodist School, a testament to the institution’s commitment to nurturing academic excellence and fostering a passion for science among its students.
