Heart Ball Announces Chairs Daniel and Tammy Schroder

By  |

The American Heart Association (AHA) is pleased to announce Daniel W. Schroder, former Chairman of The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce, and his wife, Tammy, have accepted the role as co-chairs for the upcoming Montgomery County Heart Ball.

“We wanted to get involved because heart disease strikes someone in the United States about once every 43 seconds. The disease is the No.1 cause of death in the U.S., killing over 375,000 people a year, and is the No.1 killer of women, taking more lives than all forms of cancer combined,” said Daniel Schroder. “The American Heart Association, and our extremely giving community has done and will continue to do all it can to fight this terrible disease.”

A 30-year veteran of the financial industry and the Market President for The Woodlands/Tomball/North Houston Area for Pioneer Bank, Daniel Schroder served as Chairman of The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce for the 2014-2015 fiscal year and has been a board member of the chamber for the past five years, including chair of its Economic Outlook Conference.

Tammy Schroder, the Business Development Manager for Veritas Title Partners, has been involved in the charity scene for several years, having worked with several different organizations before joining the AHA’s Heart Ball.

“Danny and I have many family members and friends affected by cardiovascular conditions, heart disease and stroke,” said Tammy. “And we were honored to be asked to chair the February 18, 2017 Woodlands Heart Ball.”

This year’s Heart Ball, themed “Honor Thy Heart: Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken,” will celebrate the journey of local heart warriors, including four-year-old Teagan McMahon, a Congenital Heart Defect survivor who had open heart surgery at three years old.

Inspired by the strength and resilience of medieval warriors, the Heart Ball will feature several surprises in the opening expo, with performances and entertainment fit for a King and Queen.

The AHA’s Heart Ball is an elegant occasion that gathers over 800 business and community leaders to help raise funds to support the mission, encourage heart-healthy habits and celebrate the commitment to fight heart disease and stroke. This year’s ball hopes to raise $1.2 million to fund the AHA’s lifesaving mission of building healthier lives free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke.

For over 22 years, the Montgomery County Heart Ball has raised over $4.6 million towards the AHA’s critical mission. The Heart Ball is currently sponsored by Tracy and Richard Wilken, Aon – The Woodlands, CHI St. Luke’s The Woodlands, Memorial Hermann The Woodlands, Dr. Mark Mettauer, and The Hearty Party.

ABC 13 Investigative Reporter and Woodlands local, Ted Oberg, will be joining the Heart Ball for the third year as emcee.

The Montgomery County Heart Ball will be held at The Woodlands Waterway Hotel & Convention Center on Saturday, February 18, 2017.  Doors to the expo will open at 6 p.m. where guests will get a chance to bid on several luxurious silent auction items. Doors to the ballroom will open at 7:30 p.m. with the main event plus an exhilarating live auction starting at 8 p.m. To grab tickets, visit www.montgomerycountyheartball.ahevents.org.
