Houston Ballet dazzles The Pavilion’s Main Stage with George Balanchine’s Jewels

By  |

The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion welcomed the talented dancers of Houston Ballet to the Main Stage on Friday, May 5, 2023, as they presented George Balanchine’s Jewels, three distinct works creating a unified evening of dance, often hailed as the first plotless full-length ballet.

Sponsored by The Wortham Foundation, the program featured three acts that each embodied their namesake jewel through the unique musical stylings of their corresponding composer. The French-evocative Emeralds set to Fauré, the delightfully witty Rubies set to Stravinsky, and the illustrious Diamonds set to Tchaikovsky completed an evening of glitz and glamour.
