HUD Designates Community Assistance Center as an EnVision Center

By  |

HOUSTON, TX – At a virtual event in Conroe, TX, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) officially designated the Community Assistance Center (CAC) of Montgomery County as an EnVision Center.

This designation serves as a critical component of HUD Secretary Ben Carson’s EnVision Center initiative by connecting HUD-assisted and low-income families with the tools that lead to self-sufficiency.

“EnVision Centers are a way to connect local resources with the people who need them the most. From social service resources to job training classes, vital services will be provided that will have an unimaginable impact on the lives of the people being helped,” said HUD Regional Administrator Michael Burley, who spoke at the designation event. “I look forward to seeing the brighter futures the CAC EC will bring to Montgomery County, TX.”

“It is truly an honor for Community Assistance Center to be recognized as an EnVision Center by the Department of Housing and Urban Development. Our organization works tirelessly to promote self-sufficiency and improve the lives of our Montgomery County neighbors by providing services, guidance and resources critical to the pillars of the EnVision Center program,” said Jennifer Landers, CAC Executive Director. “We are seeing a significant increase in need from this year which we are expecting to continue for quite some time and are excited for the possibilities of CAC becoming an EnVision Center will bring to our organization.”

EnVision Centers are centralized hubs that support the four key pillars of self-sufficiency: Economic Empowerment, Educational Advancement, Health and Wellness, Character, and Leadership. The CAC EnVision Center is the third EnVision Center in the Houston Field Office jurisdiction and one of close to 90 nationally.

CAC traces its roots back to 1981 as the Montgomery County Emergency Assistance program. Strengthened through collaboration with community partners, Community Assistance Center honors and restores the dignity of individuals and families to attain greater levels of responsibility and financial independence by delivering assistance and life lasting strategic solutions.

CAC is working with many partners in the EnVision Center, including local government and community partners.
