Montgomery County Food Bank’s Outrun Hunger Fun Run helps feed those in need

By  |

On Saturday, June 8, 2024, the community joined the Montgomery County Food Bank in the fight against hunger by participating in the annual Outrun Hunger event, featuring a 5K Trail Run and 1K Color Dash, held at Grand Central Park in Conroe.

The sold-out event’s proceeds will benefit Montgomery County Food Bank’s programs for children, seniors, and families facing hunger in Montgomery County. Every dollar raised helps provide up to four meals for those in need. Outrun Hunger participants were also given the opportunity to fundraise on behalf of the Food Bank leading up to the event. The community-wide event offered summer fun for all ages at the Party Pavilion with music, food trucks, photo ops, a kids zone, and more.

Montgomery County Food Bank’s (MCFB) mission is to unite the community to fight hunger. In 2023, they were able to provide over 8 million nutritional meals through their vast network of over 80 partner agencies and more than 60 schools across all 6 school districts within Montgomery County. They work in partnership with retailers and wholesalers to provide a solution for food waste by rescuing food that would otherwise go to the landfill. As a part of their green initiatives program, MCFB operates an onsite Produce Rescue Center that allows them to distribute fresh fruits and vegetables which emphasizes the importance of sustainability and promotes healthy food choices. MCFB’s vision of a community where everyone has access to sufficient, nutritious food is possible through the support of their volunteers and our community and corporate partners.
